Natural History Museum

The New Nature Museum has created a harmonious design environment, reflecting the surrounding natural beauty from indoor to outdoor. The architectural shape is organic, fluid and smooth-in the flexible exhibition space, the movement lines are organized in an orderly manner, and the route selection is diverse, providing a smooth flow experience.

The design concept explores the relationship between nature and humans, while deliberately blurring the boundary between nature and architecture. The design creates a truly immersive experience, driven by a sense of exploration and multilateral learning, which will help shape and stimulate the vitality of the Pingshan area, while enriching the landscape here and benefiting local residents in the next few years. The magnificent natural ecosystem of Pingshan provides the core inspiration for the design: towering cliffs, rugged terrain, rich cultural and ecological history. The curve of the river delta forms the outline of the base of the building, and the vertical lines flow down the façade of the museum, just like on the cliffs of the Hong Kong UNESCO Global Geopark. The lush outdoor greenway surrounds the museum and extends upward, covering the entire museum roof, intertwined into a green park, full of vitality no matter the day or night. The design adopts an atmospheric and expressive architectural scheme, which achieves an elegant balance between materials, elements and planning, and seamlessly connects with the site and the surrounding natural environment. Responding to the demand of “creating new landmarks”, it is connected to the north and south of the existing nature reserves, making the Shenzhen Natural History Museum not only a destination in itself, but also a part of a stronger cultural ambition, bringing the city and community together Closely connected with nature.
