From August 19 to August 22, 2021, the first course of the second phase of the Architectural Director (Intermediate) Class hosted by Zhubo Design Training Institute started as scheduled. A total of 32 students from Zhubo Design participated in the course.
Feng Guochuan, Executive Chief Architect of Zhubo Design, Liu Xiaoying, Senior Chief Architect of Zhubo Design, and Yu Wei, Senior Deputy Chief Architect of Zhubo Design, served as instructors for this course.
On August 19th, Feng Guochuan, the chief architect of Zhubo Design, gave a lecture. With the theme of "Architectural Design Method Study", the first day of the Intermediate Class of Architectural Directors was started.
Design method is an important aspect of architectural design, which has an important influence on the efficiency and quality of our work. Design method is one of the few courses that can be taught in architecture. This course explores design methods and the applicable characteristics, scope and effects of these methods through discussion, lectures, and exercises. In the class, students will learn together a more generally applicable design method that focuses on key points.
On August 21st, it was taught by Liu Xiaoying, senior chief architect of Zhubo Design, with the theme of "Project Management".
Project management refers to the management methods, processes, and modes of completing the whole process of building design projects from the beginning to the end. This course provides an in-depth analysis and introduction to the key content involved in architectural design project management, from condition analysis, schedule arrangement, team structure at the initial stage of design, to the mid-term project design process, design risk avoidance, third-party consultant cooperation, and then to the later report. Detailed explanations will be given on the work content of the whole process such as construction, application and approval.
On August 22, it was taught by Yu Wei, senior deputy chief architect of Zhubo Design, with the theme of "Technical Communication Talk".
Communication is knowledge and art, involving social sciences and interdisciplinary subjects such as management, psychology, behavior, linguistics, etc. This is not the focus of the discussion, and the technical communication link of the project will be discussed here. The course is composed of three parts: case explanation and discussion, courseware explanation, and group discussion of thinking questions.

Q：Let’s talk about the personal feelings during the learning process these past few days.
A：It’s different from what I imagined before. I thought it was easy for everyone to chat and communicate. Although the students in the first period went back and revealed to us that they were a little bit more mentally squeezed, I was still a little confident. I didn’t expect the teachers to prepare for this. Many dry goods are waiting for us.
Mr. Liu specially prepared the project management course for everyone with special care. The whole process was free of piss, and explained in simple terms, so that everyone clearly realized what accumulation and preparations should be made to become an excellent project manager; Mr. Feng is the first time I have met him. In such a serious and serious class, he usually deliberately made the whole atmosphere relaxed during the previous lectures. In this training, he actually recovered. The first time he came up to discuss, he turned into a "stunner", and the whole process was high-pressure, so that everyone immediately. With a correct attitude, I believe that other students will also benefit a lot from me.
Q：As a designer, what do you think learning project management and technical communication can bring to your daily work?
A：I used to think that project management is a matter of hard work, hard work, and at the same time requires design skills and professionalism, and pays attention to talent and insight to a certain extent. Because of the work for so many years, in fact, no one teaches in a particularly systematic way. It depends on groping. Some colleagues around me have a particularly easy project management and communication, and some feel a little bit difficult.
Some of the work experience and lessons summarized in Mr. Liu's course are many of the mines that I have stepped on in my work. I hope to promote it among younger designers to help everyone avoid pits and step on mines less.
Q：What is the difference between the design method and process introduced in the course and the actual operation of the project you participate in at work?
A：In actual project operation, customer analysis is often overlooked in the project, especially when the project cycle is tight. In addition, customer analysis is not so easy in practice. The judgment of customer habits, preferences, and concerns needs to be accumulated in the work. According to the characteristics of the project, knowing the most real needs and the most critical needs of the owner is often a key factor in determining the success of the project and avoiding detours.

Q：During the course of a few days, what impressed you more?
A：Regardless of internal communication with the team or external communication, respect is the foundation. Especially when communicating with the owner’s project manager, we often think that we are independent or even opposed to each other. In fact, this kind of thinking is wrong. It was mentioned in the "Technical Communication Talk" that we need to show respect to the owner, empathize with him, and even become friends with him. This is a point that inspired me a lot.
Q：What are the more detailed difficulties encountered in daily work?
A：The difficulty of the program department in the process of implementing the project is that the program deepening stage is a stage that connects the past and the next. There are many cases related to the later period that need to be resolved, but the intensity of the intervention of each professional at this stage is relatively limited. The late-stage contract of the project team project is often not necessarily in the company, nor can the project team decide. In this case, when other professional consulting cooperation is desired, it can only be through some of the contacts accumulated in the past projects, and the latter Colleagues use the relationship of friends to communicate difficult and painful points.

In the design method class, Mr. Feng’s sharp typhoon and language art humorously showed everyone the key core content of the project, and taught everyone how to analyze and find the pain points of the project, and then find the solution strategy, gain the trust of the owner and take advantage of it. A：In teamwork, everyone will be responsible for their specific tasks like a screw. Everyone has a clear division of labor and each has a share. This is indeed the most efficient. This training event set up a bridge between Zhubo companies and the students at the headquarters, exchanged what is needed, learns from each other, and forms a good communication platform.
Q：What are the more detailed difficulties encountered in daily work?
A：The conflict between team training and project requirements. The team wants to cultivate its own new force, but the training of new employees takes a certain amount of time. The reality is that now the project cycle is short, and some employees with work experience are often required to get started quickly, so that the project progresses smoothly, and the project crossover , The schedule is tight, the new force training independent cycle and ensuring the quality of the project schedule are the points we need to balance.
